How to Seize Business Opportunities in Emerging Markets.
“We had bad experiences in emerging markets; our projects did not succeed. I guess we did not have the right people who can deal with these markets.” (Interview, Austrian Industrial Company)
Very often, firms that do business in emerging markets experienced disappointments. In many cases, CEOs are neither fully aware of the actual problem constellation, nor do they have any clear answer to the question of why exactly the firm experienced troubles.
Only very rarely, CEOs point to political risks as a source of misfortune. In reality, however, a firms’ ignorance to recognize the specific political risks inherent to emerging markets often explains very well the failure.
STRATOS is a research project designed to tackle the black box of political risks.
Therefore, the symposium is dedicated to:
.) Discuss latest evidence brought forward in the project
.) Deliver interim results and spur public discussion on political risks
The audience comprises a broad group of interested persons from academia, business and public administration.
The English-speaking event will host experts from STRATOS but also external researchers and practitioners.
