About the speaker: Simon Horowitz, is a professional trainer, TedX speaker, and 32-year old English guy living in Vienna. As a teenager he ate rather unhealthily and reached 110 kg by his late teens, and in 2006 he fractured two vertebrae in a serious snowboarding accident in France. One of the first things he remembers was the doctor telling him that he was lucky to be alive and that should be able to walk again one day.
With his new-found self-belief he signed up for the Paris Marathon and in Spring 2007 ran 26.2 miles around the French capital. At one point during the race his whole body literally shivered when it hit him how lucky he was to be alive…
Today, he loves motivating other people to get moving. Because even now, twelve years after the accident, the feeling he first had in Paris is still with him every time he laces up his trainers. ‘’The feeling that I am lucky to be alive. The feeling that anything is possible. And I want to share that with you!’’ -Simon
