Dr. Karen Kennedy
Praised by the San Francisco Classical Voice for her “wizardry with voices” and named by the Honolulu Star Bulletin as “ . . . a popular and charismatic leader,” Karen Kennedy recently joined the faculty at the University of Miami as Director of Choral Studies. Previous to her appointments in Miami, she held positions as the Director of Choral Activities at the University of Hawai’i, Artistic Director of the Honolulu Symphony Chorus, and Director of Choral Studies at Towson University.

In addition to her work in academics, Dr. Kennedy regularly leads festival performances in large venues, most recently at Carnegie Hall, the Mormon Tabernacle, the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, Sweden, and St. Peter's Basilica at the Vatican in Rome, Italy. Upcoming engagements include a return to Carnegie Hall, as well as performances at New York City’s Lincoln Center, multiple venues in Vienna, Prague, and France, and All-State Choirs and festivals in Ohio, Washington, Minnesota, Colorado, and California.

Dr. Kennedy has received numerous awards for teaching, including the University of Hawai`i Chancellor’s Citation for Meritorious Teaching, Arizona State University’s Manzanita “Top Prof” Award, Butler University’s Faculty Distinction Award, and is a two-time recipient of the Lawrence Township Schools Superintendent’s Award.
